Unveiled in 2020, the AMG GT Black Series is the most focused road‑going iteration of the C190 GT. It sits within AMG’s Black Series lineage — preceded by the CLK 63 (2007), SL 65 (2008), C 63 (2011) and SLS (2013) — but is unique in adopting a flat‑plane‑crank version of the 4.0‑litre V8. At its core is the M178 LS2, a hand‑built, twin‑turbo V8 with a flat‑plane crank, revised turbochargers and cooling, rated at 730 PS (537 kW) and 800 Nm. Power goes through a strengthened, rear‑mounted 7‑speed dual‑clutch transaxle with revised ratios. Carbon fibre is used extensively, including for the bonnet, wings, roof, tailgate and torque tube.
