Unveiled in 2017 and capped at 300 cars, the XE SV Project 8 is the most powerful road‑legal Jaguar to date. Each was hand‑assembled at Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire, with a specification aimed squarely at track use whilst remaining road‑legal. Power comes from the supercharged 5.0‑litre AJ‑series V8 rated at 600 PS (592 bhp) and 516 lb ft, driving through a ZF eight‑speed automatic to a reworked all‑wheel‑drive system. Jaguar quoted 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 200 mph, putting the car in rare company for a saloon. The chassis was comprehensively re‑engineered: height‑adjustable coil‑over suspension, new bushings and geometry, and Jaguar’s first carbon‑ceramic braking system. Silicon‑nitride ceramic wheel bearings and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres underline the motorsport intent. Aluminium structure with carbon‑fibre panels, plus an adjustable splitter, diffuser and rear wing, deliver tangible aerodynamic gains. Inside, buyers chose either a four‑seat layout or the Track Pack with two carbon‑fibre buckets and a rear cage. The car’s credentials were demonstrated by taking the Nürburgring Nordschleife four‑door lap record of its day. Our view is that Project 8 is SVO’s clearest statement of engineering capability: scarce, technically interesting and materially different to the standard XE. Ownership, however, sits at the serious end of the spectrum: carbon‑ceramic consumables, alignment-sensitive suspension and track use all demand proper inspection and budgeting. This hub sets out the specification differences and options, documents known running costs and failure points, and advises what to ask vendors when assessing history, usage and set‑up.
